MONROE, La. – September 19, 2007- STOMP is returning to the Jack Howard Theatre in Monroe! From its beginnings as a street performance in the UK, STOMP has grown into an international sensation over the past thirteen years, having performed in over 350 cities in 36 countries worldwide.

STOMP continues its phenomenal run with the ongoing sell-out Off-Broadway production at New York's Orpheum Theatre, a North American tour, and two productions overseas - a permanent London company and a European tour. A brand-new production in Las Vegas from STOMP's creators, STOMP OUT LOUD, features a cast double the size of the original production and is now playing at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino inside a new $28 million theater specifically created for the production.

STOMP, an overwhelming success marked by rave reviews, numerous awards, and sell-out engagements, is the winner of an Olivier Award for Best Choreography (London's Tony Award), a New York Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatre Experience, and a Special Citation from Best Plays. The young performers “make a rhythm out of anything we can get our hands on that makes a sound,” says co-creator/director Luke Cresswell. Stiff-bristle brooms become a sweeping orchestra; Zippo lighters flip open and closed to create a fiery fugue; wooden poles thump and clack in a rhythmic explosion. STOMP uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – trashcans, tea chests, plastic bags, plungers, boots, and hubcaps – to fill the stage with compelling and infectious rhythms.

Critics and audiences have raved: “STOMP is as crisp and exuberant as if it had opened yesterday,” says The New York Times. The San Francisco Chronicle declares “STOMP has a beat that just won’t quit!” The Los Angeles Times exclaims: “Electrifying! Triumphs in the infinite variety of the human experience.” “A phenomenal show! Bashing, crashing, smashing, swishing, banging and kicking – a joyous invention!” says the Chicago Tribune. STOMP is directed and created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas.

The smash hit returns to Monroe Civic Center’s Jack Howard Theatre, 401 Lea Joyner Expressway, Monroe, LA, for two performances only, October 30 & 31 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, ranging from $21 to $46, are now on sale, and can be purchased at the Monroe Civic Center Box Office, impresarioschoice.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 318-329-0001 or by logging on to www.stomp.com. Special discounts are available for season subscribers and groups of 20 or more by calling 318-329-2338.

Produced by Troika Entertainment, LLC, the national tour of CATS is the only production in North America sanctioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber. With original direction by Trevor Nunn and choreography by Gillian Lynne this is the CATS credited with the British invasion of Broadway. The national tour of CATS recently celebrated its 25th anniversary season.

On May 11, 1981, CATS opened at the New London Theatre in the West End. Eight years later it celebrated its first important milestone: after 3,358 performances CATS became the longest running musical in the history of British theatre. CATS played its final performance on its 21st birthday, May 11, 2002.

In 1982 CATS opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and continued to live up to its motto "Now and Forever."  On June 19, 1997, CATS became the longest running musical on Broadway.  It ended its 18 year run on September 10, 2000.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes.

In October of 1991 CATS became the longest continuously touring show in American theatre history. Five continents, 26 countries, over eight and a half million audience members and 25 years later, CATS is still America’s most loved family musical. Celebrating not only 25 years but the birth of the musical spectacular, CATS is still revolutionary and awe inspiring.

Now that it was been seen by millions of audience members worldwide, it is time to celebrate with the whole family the magic, the mystery, the wonder of CATS.

CATS is proudly presented by Jam Theatricals (www.jamtheatricals.com) and Impresario’s Choice (impresarioschoice.com) as part of the 2007-2008 Broadway in Monroe 10th Anniversary Season in Monroe and is sponsored by KNOE-TV, The Radio People, The Monroe News-Star, Delta Style Magazine, and Comcast.

Michael Flatley’s LORD OF THE DANCE

Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $24, $34, $39, and $49

There’s something about dance shows that gets better with age.  Or maybe it’s simply good ol’ boy, strong, Irish stock.  Irishman Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, a global phenomenon, has both.  More than 50 million people worldwide have seen Lord of the Dance -- the international Irish dancing extravaganza that has performed sold out shows at theaters, arenas and stadiums in more than 67 countries.

“Our success demonstrates the hunger people have,” says Flatley, “to wholly submerge themselves into a world where dancers interpret every nuance of classic good versus evil through modern Celtic music.”  The 10th Anniversary Tour reflects Lord of the Dance’s ability to connect with the audience and initiate and captivate a new generation.  Adding to the visceral and emotional impact are costumes, lighting and staging that are cinematic in scope. “Make no mistake,” adds Flatley, alluding to the 10th Anniversary Tour, “’Lord of the Dance’ begins where modern theatre ends.”

Flatley, who originated the role of the Lord, is the company’s Artistic Director, a position he has held since the troupe’s stunning 1996 debut in Dublin.  Ten years later, his influence continues to resonate throughout every aspect of the production.  Irish dance lovers and music fans alike will get a chance to experience the engaging, rhythmic adventure that has helped catapult Celtic dance mania and Irish dancing into the global spotlight.  No wonder Lord of the Dance has jettisoned its ticket sales to more than $800 million worldwide.  During its highly profitable four-year residency in Las Vegas, an estimated two million people danced along in their seats.

“That kind of reaction speaks directly to the quality of dancers who I have had the privilege to bring to the stage,” Flatley says.  “They give of themselves in a way that is unique alone to Irish dancing, stretching a form of dance that has evolved over more than 2,000 years.”

“Lord of the Dance is truly a worldwide phenomenon,” says Bob Cayne, co-promoter and president of Global Entertainment Group.  “We are grateful for the chance to play a part in the worldwide success of this show and look forward to achieving the one billionth tap during the 2007 tour.

FOREVER TANGO

Friday, April 25, 2008 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $21, $31, $39, and $49

Luis Bravo’s FOREVER TANGO, the internationally celebrated entertainment event has played to great acclaim in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States, and most recently enjoyed its third run on Broadway.

Sensuous and sophisticated, the tango inhabits a world where everything can be said with the flick of a leg, the tug of a hand, the tap of a foot and the arch of an eyebrow.  Created and directed by Luis Bravo, FOREVER TANGO was voted Best Touring Musical by Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle in San Francisco where it played an unprecedented 92 weeks at the Theatre on the Square and has returned season after season.  Truly an international event, FOREVER TANGO was also awarded the coveted Simpatia Prize at the 1996 Spoleto Festival in Italy.

FOREVER TANGO opened on Broadway June of 1997 for what was expected to be an eight week engagement, ran for 14 months and has since been back to New York on Broadway on two separate occasions.  The New York Times labeled FOREVER TANGO “A must-see!”  And, USA Today said, “Forever Tango shows that the style is more than steamy – it’s smart, even funny … a sensuous, seductive, pleasure.”  The New York Daily News raved; “an evening of sheer pleasure!  Sensual, elegant, dazzling!”  And, the Associated Press christened FOREVER TANGO:  “The most theatrical show on Broadway!”  These sizzling reviews and huge demand for tickets forced the run to be extended again and again.

FOREVER TANGO features fourteen world-class tango dancers, one vocalist and an on-stage eleven piece orchestra, including ‘the instrument of the tango,’ the bandoneon, in an evening that celebrates the passionate music and dance of Argentina.  The dances, performed to original and traditional music, are the result of collaboration between each couple and director/creator Bravo.  “The tango is a feeling that you dance,” says Bravo, “a story you tell in three minutes.  It’s passionate, it’s melancholic.  It’s tender, violent.  You dance it with somebody – but it is so internal, you dance it by yourself.  More than just a dance, the tango is a music, a drama, a culture, a way of life.”

FOREVER TANGO and Michael Flatley’s LORD OF THE DANCE are proudly presented by Jam Theatricals  and Impresario’s Choice as part of the 2007-2008 Broadway in Monroe 10th Anniversary Season and is sponsored by KNOE-TV, The Radio People, The News-Star, DeltaStyle and Comcast Spotlight.

The ‘20s come roaring back with a vengeance when the hit musical CHICAGO comes to the Monroe Civic Center’s Jack Howard Theatre on Sunday, November 2 for one performance only. Tickets, ranging from $24 to $54, are on sale now at the Monroe Civic Center Box Office, impresarioschoice.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 318-329-0001. Special discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling 318-329-2338.

Based on the 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins (which was based on real events), CHICAGO is, as we are told in the show’s opening lines, “a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery --all the things we hold near and dear to our hearts." The story revolves around Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who dreams of starring in vaudeville. She kills her lover, nightclub regular Fred Casely, and convinces her husband to front the money to hire Chicago's shrewdest defense lawyer. The lawyer, Billy Flynn, turns her crime of passion into celebrity headlines, and Roxie becomes the toast of Chicago --until other crimes pull the limelight away from her.

CHICAGO was created by John Kander and Fred Ebb (known for their hit musicals Cabaret and Kiss of the Spider Woman) and Bob Fosse (famous for his innovative staging and choreography). It first opened on Broadway on June 3, 1975 and ran 898 performances. Its current Broadway revival (on which this tour is based) opened November 14, 1996, and is still running.

In 2002 Miramax Films took the Tony Award winning musical to the big screen, starring Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Velma Kelley and Richard Gere as Billy Flynn. The box office success and subsequent multiple Oscar wins including Best Supporting Actress (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Best Picture lead to the rebirth of the musical and touring success. For the first time since the movie CHICAGO is live in Monroe.

CHICAGO is presented by Troika Entertainment, which is celebrating over twenty years of producing musical theatre throughout North America, Europe and Asia. CHICAGO is proudly presented by Jam Theatricals (www.jamtheatricals.com) and Impresario’s Choice (impresarioschoice.com).
